Dragon Plastics Rotomoulding b.v.

Every year, 250,000,000,000 kilos of plastic are produced worldwide, about half of which is used only once and then thrown away. This creates a lot of plastic waste, and a plastic mass that is about 34 times larger than the Netherlands now floats in the Pacific Ocean! At Dragon Plastics we have been committed to making the production process more sustainable through our recycling project since 2013.

Recycling of sustainable plastics in rotational moulding

We mainly use polyethylene (PE) in the production process. Like other plastics, PE is not easily broken down by bacteria, allowing it to remain in the environment for a long time. On the other hand, polyethylene is one of the most durable plastics, as it is perfectly recyclable. Due to the thermoplastic properties of polyethylene, it can be melted down again into new polyethylene products by means of the rotational moulding process.

Sustainability at Dragon Plastics

Products that are regarded as 'waste' during the process are ground with our shredder in the workshop. We also use used or returned products for recycling. The shredder gives you very small pieces of PE, which we can then compound with additives to create a homogeneous and quality new raw material. And we do all of this under our own roof! Now that the shredding of materials takes place in-house, we are 100% sure that the recycled PE quality is suitable for the production of new polyethylene products. This allows us to use sustainable plastics without compromising the quality.

Sustainable projects of Dragon Plastics

Working with sustainable plastics and incorporating recycled PE in products is not only better for the environment, it also creates beautiful effects for your product.

ALFA: COMBATING THE PLASTIC SOUP

Alfa seats are made from production waste and fishing nets that have been fished from the ocean. This means we don’t just contribute plastic soup; we also counteract it!

POD for life: sustainability at home

POD designs original home accessories in a special jacket made from recycled waste. The recycled material creates a trendy effect.
